Airbus A320 Pilot Assessment Preparation in Istanbul
Many airline pilot assessments include a simulator session on an Airbus A320 type device. The session usually looks at how you handle the aircraft, manage automation, follow procedures and communicate, not at type knowledge you could only have after a type rating. Our preparation is built around those competencies, on a fixed-base A320-200 device in Istanbul.
Areas candidates practise on the A320
- Manual flying with the sidestick, with and without flight directors.
- Reading and calling the flight mode annunciator and keeping mode awareness.
- Basic FMGS and MCDU programming: flight plan, performance, approach.
- Managed and selected modes, and when to take back control.
- Standard calls, flows and checklists, including a basic ECAM routine.
- Engine failure, rejected take-off and go-around situations as they are usually shown in assessments.
What airlines typically look for
Airlines usually look for stable handling, situational awareness, workload and priority management, communication and CRM, and the ability to recover from mistakes calmly. The details differ between airlines and between announcements, so we confirm the current format from the official announcement before we plan your sessions.
How a preparation plan looks
- An initial session to see where you are, with a debrief by a TRI/SFI instructor.
- Focused sessions on the weak points you and the instructor choose.
- A mock assessment and mock interview close to the date.
What our device is
A fixed-base Airbus A320-200 training device. It is not EASA or SHGM qualified and is not an FNPT II. It is meant for supplementary preparation, not for licence credit.
Our B737NG and A320-200 simulators are advanced fixed-base training devices. They are not EASA or SHGM qualified and are not an FNPT II. Sessions are supplementary support training and preparation; they do not count towards a licence issue, rating or renewal, and this is not a type rating course.
Sky Aviation does not offer entertainment or experience flights. Our sessions are for pilots and pilot candidates.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need an A320 type rating before the assessment?
Usually not. Assessments mostly look at handling and behaviour rather than type knowledge, but each airline's announcement defines its own conditions, so please check it.
How many sessions do I need?
It depends on your starting point. We plan this with you after an initial session instead of promising a number in advance.
Can I also prepare online?
Yes. AviaCoach offers online preparation for airline assessments, interviews and ATPL theory.
Are your simulators EASA or SHGM qualified?
No. They are advanced fixed-base training devices, not EASA or SHGM qualified and not an FNPT II. Sessions are supplementary support training and preparation.
